a wedding to remember…

Joe and Crystal are lovely, talented, wonderful people…

I told everyone I saw that it was the most beautiful wedding I had ever been to… It really was. The music, the worship, the spirit of the whole thing was nothing short of divine. May God grant them many happy years, full of love, music, and happiness.

I could go on about a few other wonderful things that I experienced this weekend, but I have to stop. I need to figure out what I’m going to tell my fifth graders at VBS tonight.

I did get to meet Mr. ITF.

UPDATE: The happy couple themselves:

WE SURVIVED

Wow. Amazing. We are still alive. I helped at the Waynesboro Believers Fellowship VBS this past week. Waynesboro, as many of you know, is not known for its Christian Virtues. Quite the opposite, I’m afraid. The reality of the kingdom does seem far from these people, these children and their “families.” I hope we showed them something of God. I think we did, but it’s hard to know how much they are actually taking home. Jesus, bless these kids. We did what we could, but our efforts seem so inadaquate, so insignifant in the face of what seems to me the reign of the devil.

I wanna see, I wanna see, I wanna see Jesus lifted high! A banner that flies across this land. The people will see the truth and know, he is the way to heaven…

Hey Friends

It’s so great to be alive!

How do you express the unexpressible? How do you write about a feeling that doesn’t let itself get written about? I don’t know exactly why I’m so happy, but it’s awfully good to be one of God’s kids, and to be able to follow Jesus.

Can’t wait for tomorrow night! The Shenandoahchristianmusiccamp will be sharing in concert at the Bridgewater Brethren Church, at 6:30. I hope to see you there! I will be one of your friendly ushers.

Right now, I’m Home Alone. Eric is at the above-mentioned camp. Mom and Pop are away to a big old Hershberger reunion in Ohio. Grossmommy is in Harrisonburg with Esther. I alone, am left to tell the tale.

Let’s Ride…

I went out and stood beside the road Sunday and practiced panning.  It’s a lot like shooting skeet with a shotgun (and you know my astonishing skills at that :/)  You’ve got to swing with the camera, coordinating your whole body.  You’ve got to follow through with the shot, moving even after the picture has been taken.  This was my best result, shot at 1/40.

Soap Box Derby

Lavern and I went to waynesboro today to see the famous kiddos Soap Box Derby. It’s amazing what incredible time and energy these kids and their parents put into making those little soap box racers, and then it’s all over after a two 15 second coasts down a long hill.  But I thought it was really cool, and felt deprived that I hadn’t been able to build a soap box racer when I was little.

One of the fearless racers, contemplating before launch.  (no, I don’t like the legs either)

Lavern and I took tons of pan shots, and this was the only one of mine that was anything close to what a pan shot should be, but it’s still not right.
