Thanks to John at UrbanGiraffe for the best tuturial ever on Wordpress. The tutorial includes a complete teardown and rebuild of the default wordpress theme. Since I’m a newbie at CSS and PHP (and HTML, really), this kind of tuturial is immensely helpful in helping to comprehend those web development essentials as well.
And for a great alternative to Notepad, try notepad2, complete with syntax highlighting for HTML and other common languages.
New Look! Same great tastelessness!

I’ve gone Minimalist! Quite a switch from deepblue. I realize this sudden change of scenery may be a great shock to many of you, but let me assure you, this change came as a result of long consideration and debate by the board of directors, and has been in the works for at least 6 hours.
Now you can see my links! Most of those were actually imported straight from my bloglines feed. Don’t have bloglines yet? Click here for deepbrew’s easy to read instructions.
Many thanks to Scott Wallick for the Plaintxt theme. Thank you too Scott, for the prompt and thorough reply to my questions about site layout! Seriously, this gentleman answered my pesky little questions about configuring the template within an hour of me asking, and spent some time writing a very thorough and helpful reply.
So what do you think of Plaintxt? (my new theme)

an evening in the valley

Since all my family has deserted me, I went on a little jaunt in the country this evening,
and grabbed a few snapshots along the way.
My dad is rather proud of these plants.
Some of the most beautiful country in the world is around Middlebrook, VA. I’m sorry this picture doesn’t capture it, but red and white cows are always nice.
I happened upon a little softball game right in “downtown” Middlebrook, the quintessential Small Town, USA.
I said goodbye to the sun. I came home and enjoyed a couple deep and exquisite mugs of brew. This time it was Gevalia. Good stuff, and thanks to Karen for that! Since then I’ve been plowing through Da Vinci Code. High time for bed. G’night….
