Bach’s Coffee Cantata
Wednesday, October 3, 2007
Hah! I just discovered the coolest thing. J.S. Bach actually wrote a piece about COFFEE. YAY!
The Coffee Cantata relates the tale of a girl who has fallen in love with coffee, against the wishes of her father who says he’ll prevent her from marrying if she doesn’t give it up. Read to the end to see how she resolves this unbearable dilemma.
Nice lines here:
If I can’t drink my bowl of coffee three times daily,
then in my torment I will shrivel up
like a piece of roast goat.
Yes, yes, I can definitely identify. How often have I felt like a little ol’ piece of roast goat after missing my regular dose of db.
