dbh, good to hear from you. These issues are complex. I think Winter's response brings a needed balance, though Finley does correctly make a case for national workers. I believe both must be engaged as much as possible as we seek the coming of the Kingdom.

OutThere-- I'm glad you are finding so much openness where you are. You're right. The West is hard to reach. Thank you for your comment. I hope you are doing well these days, and I wish I could see you again! May his kingdom come.

I'm out there right now -- not in the traditional role, but as a career professional. Work and living takes much of our time, but we have also found much openness. In less than two years here, I've spoken more about the Kingdom than in the previous ten years back home.

I sometimes wonder what I will do differently if I ever go back to the West. I don't know. It is imperative to make disciples wherever we are, but the West is perhaps one of the hardest harvest fields. And for many of your readers, reaching their neighbor IS a cross-cultural encounter.

I do think that it is imperative that we seriously build a Kingdom-worldview and that we start seeing business and other careers as holy tools in our pursuit of the Master and His harvest.

Good post. Somehow it always seems easier just to go 'out there' somewhere instead of our own backyard.

Interesting questions. Our newspaper today had an interesting article about Africans who are starting missions in the United States. In Illinois, there are Mennonites from Argentina starting a mission here. I don't know what any of that means, but it's interesting.
