I am not driving this week

With the exception of picking up my parents at the aiport (YAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!), I hereby declare, in the presence of this webcam, that I will not be driving my car this week. My bike and my legs should be sufficient to take me wherever I need to go.

bye bye keys…

***************************Update, Sunday, October 19*****************************

The week is over. It’s been a good thing. I didn’t drive my car at all this week.  I biked, walked, or rode with someone else.

I did this bc I wanted to see if I could do it, I wanted to get more exercise, I wanted to sympathize with people who don’t have cars, and saving gas money is never a bad thing. I think I’ll continue biking to school; I feel better when I do that.

I drove my car this evening and the sensation of effortlessly floating down the road felt good, but the sensation of the wind on your face, of you and the narrow tires and the road, of conquering a hill; that’s even better.

  1. Great idea! Is this a statement against high gas prices (they are coming down now) or a statement for physical fitness?

  2. Happy biking!

  3. I saw your mother carrying the groceries home the other day. Your example must be inspiring.

  4. I am glad you found the biking to your taste. Your description could nearly inspire me to go and do likewise, however, feasibility immediately lays a heavy hand of restraint due to the fact that I am currently driving 50 minutes one way to school. Biking would augment that somewhat.
